Hear Our VSN: Rob Eberle Opens Up on His Mental Advocation and Moody, Pop Dreams
New York student, alternative pop artist, and creative Rob Eberle has been making music ever since he could remember. From a young age Rob Eberle knew what he’d want to do for the rest of his life and has had his foot on the gas ever since. Nowadays, with tracks such as the dreamy, guitar-strummed “there’s not enough time?” or spacey, pop banger “Far”, Official VSN believes he’s nowhere near slowing down. With the pleasure of having the chance to interview Rob, VSN got to know more about the young singer-songwriters inspiration, dream studio space, and more!
Introduction:
Hey! My name is Rob Eberle and I am an 18-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer from Brooklyn, New York.
Genre(s) of music you create:
I love exploring all genres but my music is primarily categorized as Alternative Pop.
Who are your dream collaborators?:
Ooo I would have to say Ameila Moore, she’s one of my favorite artists right now. Then I would say FINNEAS on the producing side and then Johnny Orlando!
What’s been your proudest moment in your career so far?:
I would have to say having the opportunity to perform my first out of state show in Nashville!
What’s your creative process like when it comes to crafting a song?:
If I am starting from scratch I usually just sit down on my bed with my guitar, figure out a good chord progression and then figure out the melodies. I figure out what I want to write about as soon as I figure out the melodies. I break it up by verse, pre, chorus and so on. If I’m producing a track, sometimes it is hard for me to get inspiration. What I'll usually do is listen back to other things I’ve created to see if I can get any inspiration from them or listen to somebody else's music that is already released!
What makes your VSN unique?:
I am a huge advocate for mental health. Whether that is shown through my artistry or my music itself; I am always going to advocate. I make music to inspire people to “do better” for the world. I literally just want people to be kind to one another and I hope my music gives you insight into a human being who just wants the world to be kind to him.
If it weren’t for music, who would you be & what would you be doing?:
I’ve always known that music is where I was going to end up. My dad was a musician all his life who then started his own public relations business so I was always around music. There’s pictures and videos of me carrying around my dad’s band’s CDs trying to sell them or me trying to get on stage and perform at 3-4 years old. I knew this is where I’d end up. However, If I wasn’t doing music from such a young age I’ve thought about getting into cooking or meteorology.
How do you find inspiration for your lyrics?:
I tend to find inspiration for lyrics through experiences that I’ve gone through or family/friends have gone through.
What are your goals for 2023?:
TRAVEL! A huge goal of mine this year is to travel to perform, network and just meet other like-minded creatives! This is already coming to fruition and I am so excited for these next few months! Performing and building my base are two other goals of mine as well!
Describe your music in three words:
Moody, Dreamy & Light
What would you say to artists who are nervous to fully pursue their dreams?:
Believe me I was nervous too. Although I grew up inside a musical family, my family and friends still saw it as a hobby and not a career. I was told multiple times I wasn’t allowed to go to school for music or to figure out a back up plan to fall back on. I didn’t listen to them and now I go to school for music! I would advise not to let anyone try to ruin your dreams because only YOU know what’s best for YOU.
Who’s a big inspiration for you that isn’t a musician?:
My mom and my Nonno for sure.
Ideal studio space?
Blue & Purple Lighting, Comfy couches, a Pool Table, and hundreds of guitars & pianos.
You recently were a nominee at the Official VSN Music Awards, what was that experience like for you?
So surreal! It was the first time my music was ever really nominated for anything. It was so awesome and I am so grateful to have been nominated!
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
While in Nashville I was told that there is always going to be someone who doesn’t want to look out for you. Meaning that there is always going to be negative people and unsupportive people and you just need to look past that. I take this advice and share the same thing I said earlier, “only YOU know what is best for YOU.”
