okaytennk is pushing the boundaries (and genres) for what an artist is capable of creating. Official VSN got some more insight into the mind of this passionate, young creative paving new ground for himself.
Introduction:
Waddup, Official VSN & World, it’s okaytenkk also known as TENKK (pronounced Ten K) or CELEB. A recording artist born in Durham, NC but raised Upstate in the town of Newburgh, NY. Seen a lot, been through a lot, and learned a lot…I just want to spread my perspective of life through what we call music no funny sh*t. Making ear candy for all listeners no matter how you look…Just a young n***a that’s gonna do crazy but great things for the future of this world we live in.

Genre of Music You Create:
The genre of music I make I really don’t know… New Age Trap or TRAP’NB with a bit of high fashion influence I guess. I just like to call it CELEB… Just bouncy music for whoever. You get lost in the sauce listening to me.
Biggest Inspiration(s) for your Sound/Art:
I been making music since like the fifth grade. Really took it seriously when I graduated high school the same year COVID hit and didn’t want to go to college. As a young n***a, my pops was heavy on partynextdoor, Max B, Ty Dolla Sign, The Dream ,etc. Trap type RNB & whatever was new music at the time like Chief Keef and sh*t. So as I got a bit older like around 2016 when I already had love for that Trap/RNB type sh*t I had found underground music and it completely changed my world no funny sh*t I was heavy on artists that made swaggy grungy rock influenced trap music. They were teenagers that been through real situations that made the best of themselves through their music like UnotheActivist, Playboi Carti, FijiMacintosh & X… Rip to him. Hearing all that made me really believe I got it in me to create the life I want for myself. Other big inspirations for how I became who I am definitely _____. aka BLANK and his brand Rugged/BLANK. _____. is my brother who is a creative genius, a designer & just like me is gonna do great things. My parents and Grandparents as well are huge inspirations to me. Seeing what they been through to still be able to provide just show me how tough times get but to never stop just because of adversity.

Dream Collaborators:
People I will work with that I always wanted to work with are Scott Storch (engineer), YE & Partynextdoor/ Drake. Carti too if I could add him. I feel like whatever route I take with my art those are the people I would want to help me take my art to the next level. Even in life as a whole, the knowledge from each one of them would be a blessing.
Goals for the end of 2022 & 2023:
As this year ends, I’m genuinely just going to continue getting better as an artist first. A goal for sure is that first I will polish my sound fully into my own. Another one is that I will grow a committed fanbase that’ll spread my VSN on all platforms. For sure will put myself in a position to quit this job and earn enough to provide for my peoples.
How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you:
If you like to turn up I gotchu… If you want to get high & take a long drive with a significant other listening to some softer sh*t I gotchu…simple as that

What makes your VSN unique:
This sh*t unique cause all these other artists always speak as being the coolest n****s they always had sh*t or bein the loneliest they ain’t never have sh*t but where are the artists that speak for the average person the ones that have 9-5’s but have the talent to quit. Not even gone front what i’m bringing to the RNB/Trap style music ain’t never been before. There’s obviously artists who’ve made that type of music but they’ve always kept traditional like love and heartbreak… I talk about that but you gone hear about the fashion I got on while i’m telling these stories. I also do it all by myself. Still ain’t been to a professional studio. So this real raw vibes that the world can relate to.
What’s next for you in the music world:
Getting my album out and getting on all major platforms’ charts as well as getting my music in commercials, on major playlists, and in the eyes/ears of genuine listeners.
What impact does the Internet have on you & your music:
Not much, there’s too much negativity on the internet. It’s good for me in a sense of being like a public journal and free space other than that not much.
What’s your creative process like:
Whether I just woke up or was with my girl or ____. or jus got off from working this lil overnight job I get comfortable or fly whichever is preferred for the day… grab sum snacks or a meal turn on key & peele or a horror film then find a beat open FL and start creating. I record mix & master all by myself. I’ll listen to sum on repeat to 10 times revise certain things and keep listening until I’m on to the next.
