J Goldy via artist profile across streaming platforms

J Goldy has been blazing his way into the Chicago music scene this year & Official VSN got to know more about Goldy and his inspirations, finding balance, and what’s next for the young music star.

Introduction:

My name’s J Goldy and I’m a rapper/producer from the Southside of Chicago.

Biggest Inspirations:

My biggest inspirations are probably J Cole, Kanye West, Donald Glover, Mac Miller, Joey Bada$$ and Juice.

Juice WRLD is a huge influence on many Chicago artists and artists in general. What about him do you think captivated so many people?":

With Juice, our music styles are different but his come up is what inspired me the most.  Like seeing someone from our high school make it big off music was very inspiring, and damn near everyone started rapping after he blew up.

Dream Collaborators:

Tyler the Creator, Freddie Gibbs, and Madlib

What Would a J Goldy x Freddie Gibbs Collab Sound Like:

If I ever got to collab with Freddie Gibbs I hope it would be a smooth ass song, basically if we could make any of the songs like he did on piñata or bandana I’d be happy.

End of 2022/Going into 2023 Goals:

My goals for the end of this year and next year for music would be to just reach more people and build up a decent fan base.

Describe Your Work:

I would describe my work as a perfect balance between upbeat and mellow, chill but also exciting at times.

What Makes Your VSN Unique:

I honestly don’t think I’m doing anything too unique, I just really like putting together different sounds and samples on songs.

Who’s Been the Most Fun to Work With on Music:

So far, it’s been fun to create with everyone I have worked with, and it’s interesting to see how each person has a different approach when it comes to making music.

Favorite Work So Far:

Favorite thing I’ve made so far is hard to say. I would probably say “Function” but I’m honestly excited for what I will make in the future.

What’s Next for You & Your Music:

What’s next for me is that I hope I can continue to be consistent with the music I put out and keep the same love and respect for it that I had when I first started creating it.
